The original purpose of this blog was to record my own thoughts and feelings evoked by events that I encountered during fieldwork in Japan. Now I write on my life in the U.S. as a kind of fieldwork.
I will practice with the junior high school baseball team tomorrow. So far this summer I have practiced with the baseball team for four times. I don’t want to sound voyeuristic, but it is very informative to listen to students’ conversations while they are taking a break from practice.

I am a doctoral student in sociology. From May 2005 through March 2006 I conducted fieldwork in Japan.
